Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Representation
Multiple means of representation focuses on providing learning content in a variety of formats. It helps diverse groups of learners in different ways, but without watering down learning outcomes. The key -- and what we focused on in this session -- is to find strategies that you are comfortable with and that works for your discipline and the learners!
How to Get Students to Watch your Videos
Curious about what makes students more likely to watch and engage with course videos? Instructor-created videos can be a highly effective way to support learning, improve engagement, promote critical thinking, foster student confidence, and help students feel connected. This session incorporates student feedback to present advice and best practices for making course videos students will seek out and thank you for!

Illinois Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act
The IL Mental Health Early Action on Campus Act Links to an external site.was put into place to ensure that all colleges have information, resources, and programs set up to aid students in terms of mental health concerns. Part of this requirement is that colleges develop policies and procedures that "...advise students, faculty, and staff on the proper procedures for identifying and addressing the needs of students exhibiting symptoms of mental health conditions."
Kristi Palmer has created a repository of mental health/mental illness information on Canvas that does just this. Join us for a session on how to use this information as an employee or faculty member of the college and what our responsibilities are in terms of helping students with mental health concerns.

Universal Design for Learning: Engagement
Multiple means of engagement can help different groups of learners in different ways without watering down learning outcomes! Not every strategy works in every classroom, every modality, or for every subject area. The key -- and what we'll be working on in our sessions -- is to find strategies that you are comfortable with and that works for your discipline and the learners!
